Divide

On’yomi: かつ
Kun’yomi: わり、わ、さ
Radical: 刀 Knife (Kangxi 18)

Frequent enough that you will keep running into it once you read past headlines.

More common than 去 (Past), less common than 薬 (Medicine).

A roof on top, rib cage and mouth in the middle, knife on the right — a knife slashes through the rib cage in the mouth under the roof, dividing the space in two.
